Weekend Report

Ha..this is one awesome weekend!

I had two gatherings on Friday..(go Wei!). I first went to the floor reunion, went there kinda too early so not many people were there. I had to leave before the crowd got there =/. It did give me the excuse to leave early though because not many people on our floor went so it was kinda awkward.

Then i headed to Carolyn's birthday party (I love Carolyn and Steve..they are a really cute couple!). Yeah, I was the first one there. I never learn. People've been telling me that I should go to parties at least 30 minutes after, but..but..I am always on time. Yes, I don't have a life and I don't lie about it. The dinner was at Triple Rock Brewery and we took over always the entire deck (some 30 people are there!). The food was good and so was the party. Even though people are kinda divided into their own circles, the geeks (in a positive sense), the "Fremont people(?)", etc. It is the way parties always are, or maybe I just suck at mingling. Then..the most fun part, Karaoke!! Dude, I haven't karaoked for so long. To my surprise, they started off with "In Da Club"~~..I was like..WTF?? That was my first time hearing RAP in Karaoke..They did an awesome job though. I then realized that nobody there spoke Chinese or understood Chinese..crap..I can't compete with them with Rapping..heh..still..one and a half hours in, everybody let it all out and did all kinds of crazy stuff...some classics are "Barbie Girl", male version of "Toxic" and many others. I enjoyed it as much as I would singing Chinese songs!

Saturday was Cal-Day! After 8 hours of sleep on a Saturday Morning..(I am not complaning), I headed to Soda for UPE table. It turned out to be very laid back. The highlight was there were two students (well..one student and one family) seeking advices from me. It seemed that they liked hearing what I said, so much that one Mom even asked for my email address. I dunno..I think if I were the student, I wouldn't care about what the classes are about I can figure out online..I needed inside scoops of the CS major..how classes really are (vs. cs61a is on structures..), how to get research positions, how to get in grad schools, jobs etc. which was very lacking in the tour. Ah, my cynical side again.

Then, my good old friends took me to Sushi House!! But...the wait was too long so we went to Apple Bees instead. Still awesome though.I like those American fast food restaurants..I like meat..=p After that, we went to watch Eros..It is a very "artsy" film about erotism(and hence the name). It is three shorts by Wong Kai-Wai, Steven Soderbergh and Michelangelo Antonioni. It wasn't very good for my taste..at least except for the first one. The first one was very Wong Kai Wai, that is all I can say. Gong Li is definitely very old and Zhang Chen is not as good as Tony Leung. The Soderbergh one is kinda funny at times but there was way too much talking..The Last one is just like WTF...a lot of nakedness..no plot..no anything..=/ Then headed back to watch SNL..Tom Brady? is pretty bad...Sport Stars should not go into Entertainment..just as do you see Britney Spears playing basketball?

Sunday..basically sleeping (yes..i napped for 3 hours even though I got up at 11) did some homework and watched Iron-chef (Yes!! a chinese guy beat Bobby Flay! Serves that cocky asshole right).

I hope I convincing enough about my awesome weekend. Yet, I should switch back to work mode as a new week is ahead and waiting for the next weekend. Keeping in mind that there are good times before me is always the reason why I survived during crunch times.
