Courses are like a box of Chocolate...

Blogspot is really better than xanga people! I got like infinity times comments more here than xanga! (Considering i got 0 there...)

So it is telebears season again, here are the classes I am considering, not that it is interesting, but I won't forget when I actually have to sign up.

Must Takes:
CS194 Security..dude..4 all-star profs on a security class for undergraduates? That's AWESOME!!! Virtually every cs major I talk to is desperate to take it. I still think that people don't know enough what they will be dealing with though. It is more like security sounds cool, it is breaking systems, hacking into computers...NO..it is not that simple..gosh..my cynical side again.

CS186 Database I love database. (Or I think I do)

Math185 Complex Analysis I should kill this requirement some time. No good profs or anything, but not like that topic sounds all that fun either. I don't like complex numbers for some reason. e^i\theta makes me puke.

One More:
Math 202A Topology..grad class...Sarason...SARASON!..don't know if i can handle it even though i really liked the material in H104 (even with O.G.U.S)

Stat 205A Probability Theory..grad class..Someone someone someone..the material sounds really fun..and cs174 is definitely baby probability..i want more! Imagine real analysis and probability goes together...hmm..

CS 281A Statistical Learning Theory..grad class..Some new prof is teaching it..One of the unique class that's only offered in Berkeley. Seems very AI inclined, (which is probably a good thing..i wanted to do AI at some point) I can totally handle problem sets..(CS majors can't do math!)..not sure about the final project though..that's like one paper in one month! I still haven't really written a tech paper yet..dunno what will happen..and..i dont have a friend in that class yet..that kinda sucks too.

CS 262A Advanced Topics in Operating Systems..grad class..Eric Brewer!!!!..and M. Franklin..definitely sounds interesting and oh my gosh eric brewer...still..it is going to be a huge project at the end..which will suck..maybe I should ask wagner about the security class project..if i can do both as one project.

ECON 181 International Trade..International Studies Requirement..

BUSINESS 133 Investments..after effects of East Coast trip...

French 2..I don't know if i can jump into French in the second semester. I always have a thing for languages, esp. French and French 3 can count as International Studies..But...but...je ne sais pas le francais...It would be a lot of work >_<

Tough choices, tough choices...Berkeley is sooo good that I want to stay here for another semester...(another summer!! yay...i can intern somewhere else!..it is just
so expensive though...we'll see)

A Series of Unfortunate Events

yes, I got my math 114 midterm back and set the new lowest record for midterm scores at Berkeley. I did not feel bad though. Maybe that is another sign that I am REALLY getting old. CPT (Curricular Practical Training) Permit was not ready yet just because my professor forgot to fill out one line in the form. Sproul closed at 3pm so I arrived there 30 minutes too late. Damn Bureaucracies! The climax of my day is when I came home, my roommate was like "don't go into your room!" WTF?? Turned out that a pigeon squeezed its way in through the little crack in the window I left this morning for some fresh air and settled down in my room! My roommate got totally freaked out when he was eating and watching afternoon (women) tv when it suddenly flew up from next to the radiator. So we got fully equipped (shoes, clothes and gloves) and worked our way into the room, only to find out it is already gone. The worst part is it pooped over my favorite couch-chair..yuccck...I almost threw up when I cleaned it..Must eat more pigeons when I go back to China to get my revenge. =/

Last midterm of the semester tomorrow. I have a bad feeling about it though. Also, hopefully the bird is indeed gone, instead of hiding somewhere and kill me in the middle of the night...

Second Post in a while

I filed my taxes today. IRS and California state owe me 500 bucks..and took 500 bucks
from me last year. I couldn't believe that the 1000 dollars I received for writing up that Chinese manual last summer ended up with a 30% flat tax since it is not effectively connected to my purpose of being in the US. =/ That tax thingy took me like a whole 10 hours on and off through march and april because obviously nobody knows how to handle taxes for non-residents. While reading through the publications online, I wondered exactly how many people in the US would be able to figure their taxes out by themselves. I mean...Americans are infamous for their algebra.(ah i hate this word right now)..maybe the IRS is just creating more jobs for the country or just simply set you up to mess up your credits or something..evil..

Even though I survived my most horrible week, the workload doesn't seem to lighten up..especially the 10 page draft due on friday...dude I haven't even passed my outline yet.

First Post in a while

Holy F$cking Sh$t!! I didn't know i was using blogger in 2003..(took me a while to recover my user name and stuff =/)
Dang! I knew google was getting big..ha

So..i've started blogging again..partially to help advertising the company I have yet to intern for and keep my name to myself.

Recent News about myself:
- I went to my first poker night today. Even though i ended up losing but it was still fun. (College ToDo List, check!)
- My math ego has been dropping dramatically, partially because of the Math GRE last weekend and partially from doing horribly on my 114 (Galois Theory) midterm. It is a regular math class for crying out loud! Maybe honor class are not the excuse why I fucked up 110 and 113..(it is really funny to compare this post with some post here in 2003..)
- I am getting more cynical by the way. Like sometimes it is hard to imagine some words are coming out of my mouth. Meaner to people and less tolerant to people who are full of themselves. (yeah..i know..I am bad enough, but there are people that are much worse than myself.)
- been getting <= 6 hours of sleep everyday for project and stuff..and realized i really don't need 10 hours of sleep everyday!
- Seriously considering if I should take some business class next semester..as an after effect of my east coast trip..people there only know business!
...
I think the name does match its contents. /night
